Welcome to the Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron (PSPS), a non-profit organization dedicated to boating safety through education, civic service and fellowship.  PSPS is a unit in District 27 of the United States Power Squadron® (USPS), America's largest non-profit boating organization supporting 33 Districts and 450 Squadrons in their mission and honored on numerous occasions for civic contributions.  PSPS encompasses the Pamlico River and Pamlico Sound areas and is headquartered in Washington NC.  Over 140 members from Beaufort and Pitt counties share an appreciation for boating and range from new boaters to those with a Captain's License.


PSPS Education Classroom

USPS certified instructors conduct a number of public seminars and member advanced courses on a wide array of topics. The comprehensive public introductory boating class, America’s Boating Course, meets the requirements of the new North Carolina State Law effective May 1, 2010. The squadron promotes boating safety at local community events for both children and adults.


Salvation Army Collection Qualified members conduct free Vessel Safety Checks for more than 150 boats annually to promote safe boating. Members are involved in the Cooperative Charting Project, a USPS and NOAA joint effort to maintain governmental waterways chart accuracy. Volunteers are involved in Maritime Education Days, assist with the annual Washington Christmas Flotilla, and is proud to support Toys for Tots. Members also help collect for The Salvation Army.


Oriental CruiseThe Cruise Committee organizes a number of boating activities throughout the year, including the popular Ocracoke and Oriental trips.  Day trips to Bath, the Washington Waterfront, Moss Landing, and up the Tar River were just some of the short trips enjoyed in 2009. Members often cruise north to the Chesapeake and south to Beaufort and points beyond. Bimonthly membership meetings include dinner and a guest speaker.
